SEPTEMBER WORKSHOP
Explore your design potential in this fun, process-oriented printing workshop. Working with fabric dyes, we will sample a myriad of ways to add pattern to cloth, including direct and indirect application, and various methods of printing with silkscreens. An emphasis on improvisation using impromptu methods will help you produce unique cloth with complex imagery. Come prepared to have fun, get messy and play!
Dye/chemical supply fees will apply. Beginner to Advanced (some dye experience helpful, but not required).
About the Artist
Kevin Womack
Kevin Womack is a textile artist living in Lynchburg, Virginia. In 1986, he was
introduced to quilting by his maternal grandmother, who taught him the tradition. Inspired by the legacy of scrap fabrics in family quilts, he explored the boundless possibilities of pattern and cloth. Through the years, his fervor for using fiber as a medium has endured.
Kevin is passionate about hand dyeing and patterning fabrics with surface design techniques and composing quilts with his one-of-a-kind cloth. His works have been exhibited at many regional and national shows.
Quilts from his “Swaddling to Shroud” collaborative series with artist Eleanor McCain have been included in the Quilt National ‘13 exhibition and Quilt Visions Biennial 2014. He was awarded Best in Show in Quilts=Art=Quilts 2021 at the Schweinfurth Art Center in Auburn, NY , and the Award of Excellence in 2023 Form, Not Function: Quilt Art at the Carnegie at the Floyd County Carnegie Library Cultural Arts Center in New
Albany, IN. Kevin teaches and lectures nationally.
